Story Of Karwa Chauth Vrat

One of the tales associated with this vrat is being described briefly here – A merchant had seven sons and a daughter named Karwa. She was adored by her brothers. Driven by the sheer love for sister, one of her younger brothers gives her false news about the rise of moon, considering he couldn’t stand to see his sister thirsty. Not only this, he kept a lit-diya under a tree to paint his falsehood as truth. His sister fell for the trick and considered that the moon rose in the sky. As soon as she took a bite into her mouth, the evil effects of her sin followed soon. In other words, she received an ill-fated death news of her husband, thus revealing the whole truth of her sin of breaking the vrat half-done. She restarted the vrat under full dedications and brought her dead husband to life. Such is one of the many tales associated with Karwa Chauth vrat.
