He had defeated the wicked, evil, foreign invader Mohamad Ghori 16 times and spared him because of his generosity. But Mohd. Ghori took the revenge by attacking him again for the 17th time and took him to Afghanistan and busted his eyes. But the great warrior Prithviraj Chauhan, after hearing the hints from his poet Chandbardai, killed Ghori with his arrows based on the direction of the sound. He did this despite his blindness. He conveyed a message to the Indians that he would still defeat the enemies without his eyes. He would save his dignity and gallantry by sacrificing his life. There are many such incidents related to this day, such as the incident of Veer Haqiqat Rai in Lahore and the story of Ram Singh Kooka. As these episodes took place on this day, it has a high historic significance as well.
The legend of Vasanta Panchami
As per Puranas, Lord Brahma created the world in the beginning. It included all living creatures including the human life. But because of the unpleasant silence, he felt that there is something lacking in this creation. Then he discussed this matter with Sri Vishnu and finally invited the Goddess Saraswati to grant the power of speech to the living beings of the earth. Goddess manifested in front of Sri Brahma and was holding a Veena (harp), book, with a blessing gesture. She infused sound into the atmosphere of the whole world by playing her magical and celestial veena. As a result, words started emerging in this world in every action and reaction. Humans started uttering words and started learning its usage in the form of sentences. She also granted the voice to various creatures like humming bees, chirping birds, and other animals. Not only this, she infused musical sound even in the flow of breeze and the passage of rivers. On this very day, the Goddess of music and wisdom manifested for the first time. We can find the mention and worship of Goddess in many places including the Rig Veda.
